ONCE  UPON A TIME...

The name, Beyond the Grapevine, comes from my goal to take your reach as a business beyond your existing contacts and networks (the grapevine) and to use all the marketing tools at my disposal to accelerate the growth of your business, whether that be increasing market share or entering new markets entirely. It also just so happens that I love wine.

 

From a young age, I have enjoyed combining the technical and the creative. At age 7, I was a self-taught eMagic Notator user - the application that went on to become Notator Logic and ultimately Apple's Logic Pro.

As a teenager, I decided I wanted to become a sound engineer and was encouraged to apply for the prestigious "Tonmeister" course at the University of Surrey, UK. It was while studying that I had the opportunity to take a year in industry working with the excellent Pro Audio Product Marketing team at Sony Europe. And so, my career took a new direction.

 

After graduation, I became marketing assistant at the then-leading systems integrator, TSL, widening my world from audio to broadcast and media & entertainment in general. Although TSL no longer operates as a systems integrator, this role and the people I worked with continue to have a great influence on my approach to my work.

From TSL, I joined the California-based video storage start-up Omneon Video Networks. As Omneon grew, I was fortunate to be able to broaden my marketing experience, working in a number of roles from Field Marketing, through Technical Marketing, and ultimately Solutions Marketing following the acquisition of Omneon by Harmonic Inc. in 2010.

 

At this point, while I'd had some exposure to product management in my time as Technical Marketing, I wanted more experience in product marketing and management, taking a role in just that at UK-based encoding and transcoding start-up AmberFin. Following the acquisition of AmberFin by media asset management company Dalet, I became a group Director of Channels and subsequently Director of Marketing, and have held senior marketing and leadership roles since.

 

With the ever-changing landscape of the media and entertainment industry, at the end of 2023, it became clear that there was a great opportunity for me to use my skills and experience to help a broader set of organizations, and Beyond the Grapevine was born.
